Team Manager Role

Only 2 people max are allowed on the bench during the game other than the players.  All other spectators must be near the sideline on Futsal court 1, or the goal touchline on Futsal court 2.  Please no spectators behind the bench on Futsal court 2 in the weight training area.

Help kids get warmed up before the game.  If you click here I wrote a quick read about warmups.  Martinez Futsal league has a total of 20 balls that can be utilized during this time, which is about 4 balls per team for warm up.  Rotate a few kids in goal for warm up and taking shots/dribbling.

Games are 40 minutes long and start about 10mins after the hour.

Make sure all players have either all Black or White top  (depending on who the home or away team is).

Organize substitutions based on player ability and amount of players on the team.    Everyone should get equal playing time. Try to limit goalie substitutions to 2 goalies per half.

When substituting a goalie on the fly have him or her substitute with a goalie that is ready with a bib/penny and goalie gloves (if necessary) already on.  Most professional futsal goalkeepers do not wear gloves.  We will provide several pennies/bibs for goalies for each team.

Team manager can call one time out per half.  Time out is 1 minute in length.  Often, time outs are called when there is an injury, or perhaps a substitution for the goalie.  Or for another reason perhaps the other team has gone up quick and you need to reestablish a defender (Fixo) or change the formation from a diamond to square.  Or perhaps draw up a play for a corner kick or freekick.  And of course you simply do not need to call a timeout if you don't need one.

From not evaluating new players in our league we may need to implement a mercy rule for teams when the score is over 5 goals at any time in the game.  We stop adding goals to the scoreboard when there are over 10 goals.  Keep this in mind as our league is meant for kids to play.

In bounds play need to happen quick.  The sooner the better.  A player has up to 5 seconds for the 5-7yo, and 4 seconds for the 8up boy and girl division.  This keeps the game going.  Refs may have a bit of grace period for a player that is new.

Help goalies understand the rules.  For example if the goalie saves the ball, he or she can distribute the ball over the half way line.  If the ball goes out of bounds on the touchline (not a goal or kick in from the sideline) the goalkeeper can pass with feet or roll the ball to someone on their half only.
